Hartly, DE – North Carolina A&T stood firm and Bowie State closed the gap to tie Tuskegee on top of the HSRN Football Polls following week 9 of the HBCU action. The Aggies top the HSRN Division I Poll, while the Golden Tigers and Bulldogs are tied for first place in HSRN’s Division II/NAIA Poll.
Division I/FCS
The top six spots were unchanged from last week with some shuffling in the lower third of the rankings due to Southern’s 48-7 loss to Alcorn State and Alabama State’s 35-20 Magic City Classic win over Alabama A&M. The Hornets have won four of their last five games and came in at #10 this week
Division II/NAIA
Tuskegee survived a potential trap game with a 19-7 win over Central State. Meanwhile, Bowie State crushed Lincoln (Pa), 57-3, in their home finale of the season, moving into a first place tie with the Golden Tigers.
Fort Valley State jumped three spots thanks to a 35-3 homecoming victory over Morehouse.
Livingstone moved back into the top 10 following its 42-35 homecoming win over Fayetteville State in overtime.

There was not a lot of movement in BOXTOROW coaches and media polls this week as the top six teams remained the same.
For the second-straight week, North Carolina A&T was a unanimous selection in the coaches poll receiving all 20 first-place votes. Grambling, Alcorn State and Bethune-Cookman stayed in the next three positions.
With Southern’s loss to Alcorn State, the Jaguars dropped a spot to No. 8, two points ahead of Tennessee State who rose one spot to No. 9 after its 20-6 win over Austin Peay.
Alabama State debuted in the poll for the first time this year at No. 10.
Hampton dropped out of the poll.
In the media poll, South Carolina State and Prairie View A&M tied for the No. 6 spot. Bowie State and North Carolina Central each moved up one spot to No. 8 and No. 9, respectively. Virginia Union reentered the poll at No. 10, while Southern dropped out.
A couple of key matchups this week as North Carolina A&T travels to Orangeburg to take on South Carolina State, while Alcorn State hosts Prairie View A&M.

Both the BOXTOROW coaches and media polls saw plenty of shakeup after this past week’s games. With the dust clearing, North Carolina A&T is back on

In the coaches poll, the Aggies received 18 of 19 first-place votes to regain the top spot for the first time since the week one poll was
released September 7. The Aggies are coming off a 24-14 victory over Bethune-Cookman who dropped from No. 3 to No. 4.
A couple of big games in the SWAC saw Grambling defeat previous No. 1 Alcorn State 35-34 on the road to tie for the biggest jump from No. 5 to now No. 2. The loss dropped the Braves to No. 3 Prairie View A&M defeated Southern on the road 47-42 and also move up three spots to No. 5. Conversely, Southern dropped three spots to No. 7.
In the media poll, Grambling received three first-place votes and sits at No. 2, 11 points behind the Aggies who received the other 15 first-place votes. Tuskegee moved back into the top five and PV got into the poll for the first time since week 3, coming in at No. 7.
